Ravens supporting Reed after brother goes missing

The Ravens family received some troubling news yesterday when it was reported that Ed Reed's younger brother went missing after jumping into the Mississippi River to elude police.

Brian Reed, 29, has not yet been found, and there's word out of Louisiana that because of water conditions, the search for the brother of the Ravens safety has been called off.

The Ravens are supporting Ed Reed at this time, and the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Reed might not travel with the team to Kansas City on their 2 p.m. flight.

On a conference call last night, head coach John Harbaugh told reporters that the Ravens are monitoring the situation and praying for a safe resolution.

"We've been in contact as an organization," Harbaugh said. "All I want to say is our thoughts and our prayers are with the Reed family in this difficult, difficult time. We're praying like crazy in the Harbaugh house for the Reed family.

"I love Ed Reed. Hopefully, this thing will turn out OK. I haven't had a chance to talk to him. He's got his hands full right now.

A couple of Reed's teammates took to Twitter to express their support for the Reed family.

"Prayers go up for my man Ed Reed and his family," wide receiver Donte' Stallworth wrote. "Blessings my brotha."

I'll pass along more details on the situation as they become available.
