Lee Evans returns to practice

After missing practices all of last week because of an injury that had his left foot in a boot, wide receiver Lee Evans returned to the practice field today, six days before the Ravens' regular season opener against the Steelers.

The team's practice today was not open to the media, but Evans said that he was able to move around and test things out this afternoon.

"I was able to run and move and cut and made a few plays. It was just good to get out there and run around," Evans said. "We were doing precautionary things. You have to stay on top of things. It was good to be out there today."

Evans didn't guarantee that he'll be able to take the field on Sunday against Pittsburgh, but said the time off last week helped matters, and seemed upbeat about his status for the Ravens' season opener.

"It was good to come out here and run on it and see where it's at," Evans said. We'll see how it reacts in the next couple of days.

"Any rest you can get during this season is welcome. It was good to rest a little bit but it's good to be back out here."

Evans led the Ravens in receiving yards during the preseason, despite appearing in just two games. He made six catches for 128 yards and a touchdown after coming over from the Bills in a trade.
