Another year will go by without Art Modell getting inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
26 semifinalists being considered for the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2012 have been announced, and Modell, the former Ravens and Browns owner, is not on the list.
Modell was selected as a semifinalist last year, but he did not make that list this time around.
Beloved by the Baltimore community because of his decision to bring NFL football back to Charm City, and highly respected throughout the league, Modell has not received enough support to warrant a Hall of Fame selection.
While the Modell news will likely not sit well with Ravens fans, they might take a little solace in the fact that two Ravens players have been nominated for weekly awards.
Coming off a strong performance against the Bengals which saw him record 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns, running back Ray Rice has been nominated for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
Rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith also got himself nominated for some hardware; Smith is up for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week after catching six passes for 165 yards and a touchdown against Cincinnati.
