Ravens draft Upshaw with first pick in second round

The Ravens finally made their first pick in this year’s draft after trading out of the 29th spot last night.

With the pick, the Ravens decided to bolster their defense. They drafted Courtney Upshaw, a 6-foot-2 272 pound outside linebacker out of the University of Alabama.

Upshaw will play opposite of Terrell Suggs and take the place of the departed Jarret Johnson, who signed with the Chargers.

The linebacker will likely share time with fourth-year player Paul Kruger, third-year player Sergio Kindle and second-year player Albert McClellan.

Upshaw was the fifth player taken from Alabama

The Ravens have another second-round pick coming up.
