Quick game update (updated)

Ty Wigginton and Lou Montanez are each 2-for-3. Wigginton drove in two runs with his second home run of the spring, and his average is up to .353. Montanez is batting .333.

Josh Bell hit into a double play in the eighth, but only because shortstop Ramiro Pena made a diving stop in the hole and threw from his knees to second base. You’ll probably see it on SportsCenter about 500 times.

Cla Meredith threw another perfect inning, striking out one. He hasn’t allowed a hit or run in 3 2/3 innings.

Matt Albers posted the same line today as Meredith. He hasn’t allowed a run in 5 1/3 innings.

Matt Wieters was 0-for-2 with a walk, making him 1-for-13 this spring. Adam Jones went 0-for-3, making him 3-for-17.

The Yankees still lead, 5-3, as Alberto Castillo takes the mound in the bottom of the eighth.

Update: The Yankees won, 5-3. They’ll bat in the bottom of the ninth, but the stats don’t count.
