Manager Dave Trembley just met with reporters behind the batting cage.
Michael Aubrey is hitting in Sarasota today and could get an at-bat tomorrow night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He might join Nolan Reimold in Saturday’s lineup, when the Orioles travel to Lakeland for their game against the Detroit Tigers.
Trembley said he isn’t concerned about Brian Roberts, who still doesn’t have a date scheduled for his Grapefruit League debut.
“Today is March 4,” Trembley said. “If it’s April 4, I’ll be concerned.”
Trembley estimated that Roberts will need 25-30 at-bats to get ready.
Brad Bergesen will throw another bullpen session tomorrow and most likely on Sunday. He’s expected to start on Wednesday unless the Orioles decide he doesn’t need an extra day.
Each starter is slated to go two innings or throw 35 pitches in their first turns except for Kevin Millwood, who might be allowed to throw three innings. Millwood believes he needs to do more throwing to get ready for the season.
