Pie, pinch-running for Matt Wieters, raced home with the tie-breaking run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth on Cesar Izturis' single into right-center field. Pie just kept motoring - and he wasn't running on the pitch, so he had a lot of ground to make up - and beat the relay from Toronto second baseman John McDonald.

Catcher John Buck couldn't handle the throw, or Pie would have been an easy out.

Pie didn't run a stop sign. Third base coach Juan Samuel waved him home.

Manager Dave Trembley put an arm around Pie in the dugout. I'm eager to find out what he was saying.

Update: Mike Gonzalez has blown his second save and we still don't have an out in the top of the ninth inning. He's missing badly again, giving backup catcher Craig Tatum quite a workout.
