BOSTON - The Orioles scored twice in the top of the 13th inning tonight and defeated the Red Sox 6-4.
The Orioles have won five of six games and six of eight against the Red Sox. They’ve won four of five at Fenway Park after losing six in a row.
The bullpen was masterful again, registering eight scoreless innings after starter Wei-Yin Chen left the game. That’s 19 scoreless innings in a row since Troy Patton gave up a run last Friday.
The bullpen lowered its ERA to 1.56.
Jim Johnson converted his eighth straight save opportunity this season and his 16th dating back to last August.
Chris Davis broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single off reliever Franklin Morales after Matt Wieters singled with one out and Wilson Betemit drew his third walk of the night.
Betemit had two walks coming into the game. Go figure.
Mark Reynolds added the all-important tack-on run with a sacrifice fly.
Reynolds homered, doubled, walked and had a sacrifice fly.
The Orioles have won nine of their last 11 games and are eight games above .500 for the first time since July 18, 2005.
