The Orioles recalled first baseman Joe Mahoney today, but he’s not in the lineup. His major league debut will have to wait.

Mark Reynolds is playing first base and batting eighth. Jim Thome continues to serve as the designated hitter.

Richards is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four home games this season, 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in two road games.

Minor league note: Steve Johnson, who was optioned after Tuesday night’s game, will rejoin Triple-A Norfolk’s rotation and start on Sunday against Charlotte. Tommy Hunter starts tonight, Brian Matusz tomorrow and Zach Britton on Saturday.

Orioles notes: Two Orioles have faced Richards. Davis is 1-for-1, and Andino is 0-for-1.

The Orioles have lost seven of eight season series against the Angels since 2004, with the lone win being a season sweep in 2010 (6-0).

The Orioles are 9-4 in 13 road series this year after posting a 6-20-1 record in 27 series away from Baltimore in 2011.

The Orioles are 20-1 when their starters work seven or more innings.

Dan Haren won’t be starting for the Angels on Sunday. He was placed on the disabled list today with lower-back stiffness.
