Homers by Jones and Davis in the eighth carry the Orioles to victory

Adam Jones picked a good time for his sixth homer of the season and Chris Davis did as well for his third of the year.

Jones' drive to left leading off the last of the eighth just made it into the left field seats to break a 2-2 tie and propel the Orioles to a 5-2 win over Toronto tonight and a three-game sweep in front of 13,725 at Camden Yards.

Two batters after Jones' homer, Davis hit a two-run shot to right for a three-run lead. It was his second homer in two nights and third of the season.

The Orioles improve to 12-7 with the win and are five games over the .500 for the first time since they were 6-1 last April 9. The Orioles have their first four-game win streak since last September 13-17.

After going 6-12 against Toronto last season, the Orioles are 5-1 versus the Blue Jays now.

Brian Matusz didn't give up an earned run, but didn't get a win, although he pitched well.

Matusz gave up two runs and five hits over six innings. He walked two and fanned three. He threw 92 pitches and is now winless since June 6, 2011. He entered with a record of 0-3 and ERA of 13.09 in four career starts against Toronto.

Toronto scored twice against Matusz to take a 2-1 lead in the sixth. Matusz faced Eric Thames with two on and two out and he hit a ground ball along the first-base line. First baseman Nick Johnson backpedaled and the ball went by him for a three-base, two-run error.

With Matusz's outing tonight, Orioles' starters have now pitched to an ERA of 0.71 over the last four games, allowing two earned runs over their past 25 1/3 innings.

Ryan Flaherty got two hits on the night, the first two of his major league career and his first career RBI on a sac fly in the fifth. Darren O'Day got the win and Luis Ayala got the final three outs for his first Orioles save.

The Orioles welcome the Oakland A's to town for a weekend series that begins at 7:05 Friday night when Jake Arrieta (1-1, 4.01) pitches against right-hander Brandon McCarthy (0-3, 3.38).
