Nationals-Tigers lineups

Here are the lineups for the Nationals’ series finale in Detroit today. There’s a bit of an unusual look to this one. More in a minute. Here are the lineups:

Nationals:
Guzman - DH
Bernadina - CF
Zimmerman - 3B
Dunn - 1B
Willingham - LF
Morse - RF
Kennedy - 2B
Desmond - SS
Nieves - C

Atilano - P

Tigers
Raburn - 2B
Santiago - SS
Ordonez - LF
Cabrera - 1B
Boesch - LF
Guillen - DH
Inge - 3B
Avila - C
Kelly - CF

Bonderman - P

We were talking earlier this morning about mixing things up in the Nationals’ lineup to give Roger Bernadina a better chance and allow Michael Morse a shot to show what he can do. With Nyjer Morgan getting the day off today and an extra spot in the lineup to play with, it appears Jim Riggleman will do just that. Morse is in right and Bernadina’s in center. I wouldn’t be shocked to see that configuration on some days, especially if Morgan keeps struggling. It’s an interesting choice, and we’ll see if it pays off against Bonderman, who’s been a huge disappointment in Detroit ever since the Tigers’ 2006 World Series run.
