Nationals extend contract with Single-A Potomac

The Nationals announced today they extended their contract with Single-A Potomac for another four years, continuing their relationship with their top A-ball team.

The franchise, based 25 minutes south of Washington in Woodbridge, Va., has been one of the team’s biggest organizational successes since the Nationals came to Washington.

It is in its second Carolina League Championship Series in three years, and has been a proving ground for some of the team’s top prospects, like John Lannan, Jordan Zimmermann, Ian Desmond, Drew Storen and Danny Espinosa.

“We are very pleased to renew our player development contract with the Washington Nationals,” Potomac owner Art Silber said in a statement. “We have had a positive relationship with the Nationals, and have enjoyed watching so many of our former players make their big league dreams come true in Washington. We look forward to working with the Nationals over the coming seaons, and are excited as we watch these young players advance their careers to the major leagues.”
