Sartori leaves Nationals for Blue Jays

Jay Sartori, who joined the Nationals after last season as part of Mike Rizzo’s remade front office, has left the team to become the Toronto Blue Jays’ assistant general manager, the Blue Jays announced this afternoon.

Sartori came to the Nationals from the commissioner’s office, where he had been working in the Labor Relations department doing salary and contract work. He brought the same area of expertise to the Nationals as baseball operations director, and gets a nice promotion with the Blue Jays.

He is the third member of the Nationals’ baseball operations department to leave for Toronto in the last year; scouting director Dana Brown became a special assistant to GM Alex Anthopolous, and baseball operations director Brian Parker left to become a pro scout with Toronto.
