Nationals reliever Todd Coffey, who got hit in the elbow with a line drive from Emilio Bonifacio on Sunday, has a badly bruised right elbow, with a baseball-sized welt right above the bone. But X-rays on the pitcher’s elbow were negative, and Coffey said he’d be able to return in a day or two.
“Obviously it’s a little sore,” Coffey said. “I already did about three rounds of ice on it. The key now is just to knock the swelling down.”
