Danny Espinosa named to Topps All-Rookie team

Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa, who finished sixth in the National League Rookie of the Year race, was named to the Topps Major League Rookie All-Star team on Wednesday morning. Espinosa hit 21 homers in 158 games for the Nationals during the 2011 season.

The second baseman finished behind teammate Wilson Ramos in the Rookie of the Year balloting after slumping badly in the second half of the season, but still impressed the Nationals with his athletic defense and hard-nosed style of play.

He led the National League in hit-by-pitches, getting plunked 19 times, and hit 16 homers in the first half of the season, the most-ever by a rookie second baseman.
