Chien-Ming Wang continues to progress on his way back from shoulder surgery, posting another solid outing today for the Nationals' instructional league team.
Wang threw two innings against the Braves' instructional league team, hitting 89 mph on the radar gun and getting four groundouts in 17 pitches, according to an email from Alan Chang, who represents Wang with Alan Nero.
"He's feeling very good now," Chang wrote.
Wang's improvement comes at a good time for the Nationals, who are waiting to see how he finishes his fall before moving forward on negotiations with Nero about a contract for next season.
Wang signed a one-year, $2 million deal in February and missed the entire 2010 season while trying to return from shoulder surgery. He is arbitration-eligible this winter, but the team would like to get a deal done before then - and probably for less than the $1.6 million Wang would make, at a minimum, in arbitration.
Nero has said both sides are optimistic about getting a deal done.
