With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Wilson Ramos hit a hard grounder toward Giants third baseman Miguel Tejada, who made the kind of fundamental mistake you're taught not to make in Little League. Tejada tried to field the ball from the side, instead of getting in front of it, and when he attempted to pick Ramos' grounder with one hand, it skipped under his glove.
It was charitably scored a base hit, but it gave the Nationals life. And they've taken advantage of it.
Ian Desmond followed Ramos with a single, and the struggling Michael Morse took the first pitch he saw from Madison Bumgarner up the middle for a base hit. Jerry Hairston Jr. followed with a double, and the Nationals took a 2-0 lead on the Giants.
Tom Gorzelanny is coming back out for the eighth with a two-hit shutout going. He's only thrown 79 pitches, and he could get a chance to finish the Nationals' second complete game shutout of the series.
Update: The game is over and the Nationals have won 2-0 on a combined three-hitter from Gorzelanny and Drew Storen. Check back later for more coverage.
