Orioles lineup to close out series in Seattle (Orioles DFA Givens)

Last night’s 1-0, 10-inning win in Seattle guaranteed that the Orioles wouldn’t be swept in 77 consecutive series.

The Orioles ended the Mariners’ winning streak at eight games. A victory today would seal their 23^rd series.

Cedric Mullins is on the bench today, with Austin Hays playing center field and Ryan O’Hearn in left.

Jordan Westburg is the third baseman and Gunnar Henderson is at shortstop. Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter.

Ryan Mountcastle had a go-ahead RBI single last night in the 10^th and has reached base in a career-high 19 games in a row. He’s batting fifth and playing first base.

Ramón Urías is hitting 70 points higher against right-handers than left-handers this season. All four of his home runs have come against right-handers. But he’s on the bench.

Kyle Bradish held the Mariners to two runs and two hits and struck out seven batters June 25 at Camden Yards. Cal Raleigh belted a two-run homer in the second. Bradish has never pitched in Seattle.

Bradish tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings against the Mets in his last start but walked five batters and hit one.

The Orioles hold a two-game lead over the Rays in the American League East.

Rookie Bryce Miller has made 16 starts and posted a 4.20 ERA and 1.039 WHIP in 85 2/3 innings. He’s walked 17 batters and struck out 85.

Miller faced the Orioles on June 24 and allowed three runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings. Anthony Santander hit a solo homer.

Miller threw a first-pitch strike against 75 percent of the batters he faced in his 10-strikeout start against the Angels last Sunday.

The Mariners are getting an average of 5.7 innings from their starting pitchers, the highest mark in the majors, per STATS. The Orioles rank ninth at 5.4 innings.

The Padres are starting Yu Darvish, Michael Wacha and left-hander Blake Snell in San Diego. The Orioles haven’t listed their starters.

Update: The Orioles reinstated reliever Mychal Givens from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment.

Givens returned to the organization that drafted him by signing a one-year, $3 million deal in December that included a $6 million mutual option for 2024. He was guaranteed $5 million this season.

Givens had knee and shoulder injuries that limited his time on the mound in spring training and the regular season. He appeared in only six games this season, totaling four innings and allowing five earned runs (six total) with six walks.

Improvements weren't evident on his latest rehab assignment. Givens surrendered three runs with two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning last night with Triple-A Norfolk.
