Ramírez activated and Heasley optioned (plus lineup)

The Orioles have activated reliever Yohan Ramírez, acquired from the Mets this week for cash considerations, and optioned Jonathan Heasley to Triple-A Norfolk. These moves were anticipated last night.

Heasley allowed six runs in two innings in an 11-1 loss. Manager Brandon Hyde said during his afternoon media session that Ramírez would be arriving within the next few days.

He’s here.

Ramírez, who is wearing No. 48, has made five career relief appearances against Milwaukee and allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Also, infielder Tony Kemp cleared waivers and elected free agency rather than an outright assignment to Norfolk.

Jackson Holliday is out of today’s lineup against left-hander DL Hall. Jorge Mateo is playing second base.

Holliday is 0-for-11 with seven strikeouts. He’ll play on Sunday.

Colton Cowser is in center field and batting seventh. Austin Hays is in left field. Cedric Mullins sits.

Dean Kremer has allowed three earned runs (four total) in 12 1/3 innings in his two starts. He started in Milwaukee last year and allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings.

Last night’s 10-run loss was the largest margin for the Orioles since they fell 13-1 to the Mariners on June 23, 2023. It also snapped a streak of 12 consecutive games with Orioles pitching allowing five runs or fewer to begin a season, tied with the 1977 team for longest in club history.

The Orioles have stolen 13 bases in a row without being caught dating back to last season, tied with the Reds for the longest active streak in the majors, according to STATS.

Kyle Bradish threw a bullpen session today.

DL Hall returns to Camden Yards. He made one career start with the Orioles and it happened in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Hall has made two starts with his new team and allowed two runs in four innings against the Mets and three runs in 5 1/3 against the Mariners. He’s also surrendered 14 hits.

The Brewers are 6-1 at home this season. They also own a 13-6 record against the Orioles since moving to the National League in 1998, their best mark against any opponent in that span, per STATS.
