HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Right fielder
Bryce Harper extended his hit streak to 14 games with two hits, including an RBI single to left in the fifth inning, as the Single-A Suns downed the Delmarva Shorebirds 7-3 before 1,808 on school day at Municipal Stadium.
Harper also had a single to right in the eighth. He flew out to center field in his first at-bat and struck out twice. Harper has reached base in 19 consecutive games and has had 14 multi-hit games. He has had 14 RBIs in those 14 multi-hit games.
After his base hit in the fifth, Harper attempted to stretch the single into a double, but was tagged out at second base. That allowed Adrian Sanchez to score the Suns' seventh run.
Suns third baseman Blake Kelso added a pair of hits, including a two-run, ground-rule double. Center fielder Michael Taylor contributed a run-scoring double and a bases-loaded walk. The Suns are now 21-11.
Justin Dalles with an RBI double as the Shorebirds (20-12) built an early 2-0 lead before the Suns scored runs in each of the second through fifth innings to take command. The win snapped Delmarva's win streak at three.
