Source: Top prospect Juan Soto to join Nats on Sunday

The Nationals' top prospect healthy enough to play right now, outfielder Juan Soto, is expected to join the team in D.C. on Sunday, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to MASNsports.com.

Soto will provide depth following the loss of outfielder Howie Kendrick, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list after suffering an Achilles injury on Saturday in game one against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 19-year-old left-handed hitter from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - projected as a corner outfielder in the big leagues - has scorched minor league pitching in the first two months of the season, slashing .362/.462/.757 in 39 games, with 14 homers and 52 RBIs.

Soto did not play in the Double-A Harrisburg Senators' second game of their doubleheader in Richmond on Saturday, and instead made his way to D.C. to join the Nats. He will be available on Sunday.
