Koji Uehara, speaking as usual through interpreter Jiwon Bang, seemed satisfied with the results today after throwing live batting practice.
“I was able to command the ball better than last time,” he said.
Asked whether he feels better physically compared to last spring training, Uehara replied: “It’s tough to tell. One thing I can tell you is that the way I’m approaching it from last season, as a starter and as a bullpen guy, is different. The number of pitches, stuff like that.”

In his new role, Uehara doesn’t have to push himself as much early in camp to stretch out his arm.
Uehara is throwing his fastball and splitter.
Manager Dave Trembley will meet with reporters around 1 p.m., and I’ll pass along his comments on today’s workout.
