Hammel is 8-4 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts, with 97 strikeouts in 99 2/3 innings. The right-hander has lost his last two starts, allowing 12 runs and 15 hits in 10 innings.
The Orioles will be represented by center fielder Adam Jones, closer Jim Johnson and catcher Matt Wieters – the first time they’ve had more than one selection since 2005.
Wieters is the first Orioles player to be chosen in back-to-back years since shortstop Miguel Tejada in 2004-2006.
