Right fielder Nick Markakis has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list after completing his injury-rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie. The Orioles optioned first baseman Joe Mahoney to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for Markakis on the 25-man roster.

Markakis hasn’t played since May 29 in Toronto. He underwent a 20-minute procedure on June 1 to remove a piece of broken hamate bone…The Orioles are off for the next four days, but that didn’t stop them from making another roster move.

Markakis hasn’t played since May 29 in Toronto. He underwent a 20-minute procedure on June 1 to remove a piece of broken hamate bone from his right wrist.

Markakis, who also underwent surgery in January to repair a torn abdominal muscle, is batting .256/.333/.452 with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 26 RBIs in 50 games. He’ll start in right field Friday night against the Tigers at Camden Yards.

Earlier today, Markakis went 0-for-3 with a walk and strikeout at Bowie. He went 3-for-10 with two home runs and four RBIs in three games with the Baysox.

Mahoney was recalled on Thursday and made his major league debut two nights later in Anaheim, going 0-for-3.

Also, the Orioles announced the signings of pitchers Branden Kline (second round) and Matt Price (seventh) and first baseman Christian Walker (fourth). They’ve signed 27 of their 40 picks from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
