Adam Jones took over in center field. Matt Wieters moved behind the plate. Jim Johnson continued to sit in the bullpen.

Two out of three ain’t bad.

Jones ran down Rafael Furcal’s fly ball on the first pitch thrown by White Sox left-hander Chris Sale, and he also caught Jay Bruce’s fly ball for the second out.

Talk about making a late push for MVP!

OK, seriously, the American League is losing, 8-0, and I desperately want to go to bed. The excitement has been too much for me. But I’m hanging until the bitter end.

Update: Wieters flied to the edge of the warning track in left field against Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels in the top of the seventh, and Jones grounded out to end the inning.

Johnson retired the National League in order in the bottom of the seventh. Jose Altuve grounded to second, Starlin Castro flied out to Jones and Michael Bourn struck out.

Nice to have all three Orioles on the field at the same time.

Down on the farm, Endy Chavez went 0-for-4 tonight at Single-A Delmarva. He’s 0-for-8 in two injury-rehab games.

Chavez is scheduled to play two more games at Delmarva and could be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

Update II: Wieters flied out against Jonathan Papelbon with a runner on third base to end the game.

Wieters has hit 10 of his 12 home runs from the left side, but he’s only batting .200. He’s hitting .384 from the right side.
