The Orioles entered tonight having allowed three runs or less for seven consecutive games and their starters had recorded seven straight quality starts.

Tampa Bay scored five runs in the first inning on its way to a 10-1 romp over the Orioles as the Rays take the first two games of this series and they can complete a three-game sweep tomorrow afternoon.

Miguel Gonzalez took the loss, falling to 2-2 with an ERA of 4.28. He struggled with his command from the start and lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs. He walked two, hit three batters, gave up two homers and threw a wild pitch.
Winning pitcher David Price was his masterful self, pitching seven innings allowing just one earned run and notching 10 strikeouts. With the win, Price moves to 14-4 on the year.
The Orioles scored once in the last of the first when Nick Markakis singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on J.J. Hardy’s single.
The Orioles have lost three in a row after five wins in a row. They fall to 23-24 at home, 6-7 since the All-Star break and 51-47 overall.
