Tonight, Machado became the youngest Oriole to homer since Jim Palmer did so at age 19 on May 16, 1965. He then became the youngest Oriole ever to have a two-homer game topping Boog Powell who did it at age 20 years, 250 days on May 2, 1968. Machado is 20 years, 35 days old.
Over two games, Machado is 4-for-8 with a triple, two homers and four RBIs.
His big night overshadowed Miguel Gonzalez, who gave up just six hits and one run over eight innings to get the win. It overshadowed Omar Quintanilla, whose two-run homer gave the O’s a 2-1 lead in the last of the second.
The Orioles improved to 61-52 with their sixth win over the last seven games and ninth in 12 games. They are 15-8 the past 23 games and host K.C. tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m
