Losing seven of eight games isn’t bad enough for the Orioles. Falling back to four behind the Guardians, who they won’t sweep in this series, isn’t bad enough.

They have more injured players.

They have more problems.

Gunnar Henderson is day-to-day with a sore left knee after fouling a ball off it last night. Manager Craig Albernaz indicated that Henderson won’t play tonight.

“He’s pretty banged up,” Albernaz said.

Blaze Alexander came out of the game with back spasms and the team is taking inventory on him. Albernaz said a decision will come “pretty late.”

Albernaz added that a roster move is likely at some point and the lineup will be posted late. Meanwhile, Jeremiah Jackson is here on the taxi squad and ready to provide the Orioles with an extra infielder.

“We just have to figure out where Blaze is at first before we get a grasp, before we make a decision or make a move,” Albernaz said.

Shane Baz’s 15 losses are tied for most in the majors, but his ERA is 3.91. Typical of his season, he held the Red Sox to one run over 6 1/3 innings Friday and lost 1-0.

The Orioles have scored 10 runs while he’s in the game in his last eight starts.

Baz allowed four runs in six innings on April 16 in Cleveland. He’s surrendered nine runs in 17 innings in three career starts against the Guardians.

José Ramírez is 2-for-7 with a double and home run. Steven Kwan is 3-for-9.

Pete Alonso leads the American League with 97 RBIs.

Coby Mayo’s hitting streak ended last night at 11 games, but he’s reached base in a career-high 13 straight.

The Blue Jays are one game behind the Guardians and the Rangers are 1 ½. The Twins are a half-game behind the Orioles.

The Orioles haven’t won a season series against Cleveland since 2016.

Left-hander Foster Griffin is 15-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 28 starts, the first 22 with the Nationals before a deadline trade. He’s posted a 4.06 ERA and 1.419 WHIP in six starts with Cleveland.

The Orioles managed an unearned run and three hits off Griffin over seven innings on June 27 at Camden Yards. He struck out nine.

Griffin held left-handed hitters to a .171 average and .349 slugging percentage with the Nationals, but they’re batting .265 and slugging .471 since the trade.

Reliever Albert Suárez cleared waivers and elected free agency again in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.

Félix Bautista retired all three batters faced last night on his injury rehab assignment at Norfolk. He threw eight pitches, six for strikes.

The Tides defeated Louisville today 8-4. Enrique Bradfield Jr. had two more hits and two RBIs.

Alexander goes on the 10-day injured list with lower-back discomfort and Jackson is recalled.

Alexander missed six weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his left hand. He came out of last night’s game with back spasms after fielding a bunt in the seventh inning. He’s batting .303/.358/.414 in 93 games.

Jackson hit .226/.255/.359 with 10 doubles and seven homers in 89 games with the Orioles. He was 0-for-18 in August after going 3-for-17 in July.
