Kam Mickolio made it through a bullpen session without reinjuring his groin, and he’ll follow Brad Bergesen to the mound in Sunday’s intrasquad game.
The game will be closed to the media. The entire complex will be closed to the media. And we’re not complaining.
The Orioles’ roster must be finalized and turned into the MLB office by 3 p.m. Sunday.

“I would say we’re close,” manager Dave Trembley said. “You never know, though. I’ve been in this game long enough to know things happen at the last minute. That’s the way it goes. I tell guys, ‘You never know until the first day.’ Deals happen, things happen. That’s the way the game is.”
Barring a late trade, the roster appears to be set. Julio Lugo replaces Robert Andino as the utility infielder. Mickolio is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk, with Jason Berken occupying the last spot in the bullpen.
Trembley envisions Lugo backing up at shortstop and second base.
“Maybe he could play someplace else,” Trembley said, “but I haven’t thought of that.”
So you wonder why the Orioles keep wearing their home whites in Sarasota?
“We’re the Baltimore Orioles. It’s about pride. This is the major leagues,” Trembley said.
Trembley wants fans to see the team in its normal attire, not batting practice jerseys and caps. He also thinks the regular uniform looks better on television and in photos.
