The Orioles revealed their minor league award winners earlier today, and infielder Wehiwa Aloy and left-hander Joseph Dzierwa are the top player and pitcher, respectively.

High-A Frederick Manager Collin Woody and area scout Trent Friedrich also were recognized for their contributions to the organization.

Aloy and Dzierwa arrived in the 2025 draft. Aloy was 31st overall and Dzierwa 58th.

Aloy, 22, slashed .288/.358/.506 with 20 doubles, four triples, 25 home runs, 92 RBIs, 52 walks, 84 runs scored and 20 stolen bases in 123 games between Frederick (84) and Double-A Chesapeake (39). He ranked among all Orioles minor leaguers in runs (first), total bases (first, 239), hits (second), extra-base hits (second, 49), RBIs (second), homers (tied second), slugging percentage (third), batting average (fifth), OPS (sixth, .864) and doubles (tied sixth).

Only 17 other full-season minor leaguers totaled at least 20 doubles, 25 home runs and 20 steals.

MLB Pipeline ranks Aloy eighth among prospects in the system and Baseball America ranks him 15th.

Dzierwa, 22, went 9-2 with a 2.27 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 30 walks and 149 strikeouts in 26 appearances between the Keys and Baysox. He ranked among all full-season minor league pitchers in WHIP (first), opponent batting average (tied first, .186), ERA (second) and winning percentage (seventh, .818). His 149 strikeouts were second among Orioles farmhands behind left-hander Caden Hunter (151).

Baseball America ranks Dzierwa No. 77 overall among prospects and MLB Pipeline has him 88th.  Both publications have him third in the system.

Woody was given the player development award after guiding Frederick to an 83-46 (.643) record, the highest winning percentage by any full-season affiliate. The Keys won the most games in franchise history and earned their first playoff berth since 2017.

Woody already was chosen as South Atlantic League Manager of the Year.

“Collin did an incredible job building a strong team culture in Frederick,” director of player development Anthony Villa said in a statement. “Winning both halves is rare in the minor leagues, but Collin and his staff consistently got the best out of each player, even through promotions including Aloy and Dzierwa. His leadership and care set high expectations while providing high support to the Keys and Orioles baseball communities.”

Friedrich joined the Orioles in 2019 as an area scout and covers Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. His recent signees include Dzierwa, 2026 seventh-rounder Ryan Piech, 2025 third-rounder R.J. Austin, 2025 seventh-rounder Hunter Allen and 2025 eight-rounder Kailen Hamson.

“Trent cares deeply about his craft, and it shows in the quality and quantity of the work he produces. He consistently puts us in a great spot to make informed decisions on players in his area,” vice president of domestic scouting Will Robertson said in a statement.

The winners will be honored with an on-field ceremony before tonight’s game.

Four members of the Baysox were named to the Eastern League All-Star team: Dzierwa and starter Anthony Eyanson, reliever Micah Ashman and catcher Ethan Anderson. Eyanson, acquired from the Red Sox in the Adley Rutschman trade, also was chosen as the league’s Pitcher of the Year.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are in town for the Orioles’ final home series of the season.

The Orioles will try to break a 19-inning scoreless streak. They haven’t lost a home series to the Blue Jays since 2022. The seven-series streak is second longest after 10 straight from 1977-81.

Colton Cowser has heated up late, hitting .360 (9-for-25) in his last eight games since Sept. 11 after going 1-for-24 in 10 games from Aug. 30-Sept. 9.

Pete Alonso has homered in five consecutive series, one shy of his season high in August.

Shane Baz is 6-15 with a 4.11 ERA in 30 starts. His loss total is tied for highest in the majors.

In Baz’s last two starts, he’s allowed eight runs and 13 hits in 9 2/3 innings after holding the Red Sox to one run in 6 1/3 on Sept. 4. He faced the Blue Jays on June 7 at Rogers Centre and allowed one earned run and five total in 5 2/3.

Baz is 4-1 with 2.13 ERA and 1.053 WHIP in seven career starts against the Blue Jays.

George Springer is 1-for-15 with a double. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 5-for-18 with a home run.

Toronto is starting right-hander Trey Yesavage, who’s posted a 3.65 ERA in 18 games. He’s surrendered 10 home runs in 93 2/3 innings.

The 2024 first-round draft pick didn’t debut this season until April 28 due to a right shoulder impingement. He hasn’t started since Aug. 4 because of a meniscus tear in his left knee that required surgery.

Yesavage made back-to-back starts against the Orioles May 30 and June 5. He allowed one run and two hits with seven walks in five innings at Camden Yards and six runs and five hits over 5 2/3 innings in Toronto.

Coby Mayo is 2-for-5 with a home run against Yesavage.

Right-handers are hitting .176 with a .613 OPS against Yesavage, and left-handers are hitting .191 with a .632 OPS. He’s registered a 3.14 ERA in 10 road games and a 4.20 ERA in eight home games.

The Blue Jays are 77-79 and three games back for the last Wild Card. They’re two ahead of the Orioles for fourth place in the division.

Toronto is 21-4 (.840) since the All-Star break when scoring the first run of the game, the best record in the majors.
