We’re still a little over six hours from the midnight deadline for teams to offer arbitration to their free agents, and nothing has changed with the Orioles. They’re not going to do it.
“Very unlikely” is how one person described it. That’s good enough for me.

I’m fully prepared to go to bed at 11:45 p.m. without having to make a mad dash for the laptop.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi volunteered to be a special guest instructor to teach Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez how to slide.
Sanchez, in turn, is teaching CC Sabathia how to pass on seconds.
Major League Baseball officials are requesting that internet sites remove racy photos of Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore that were stolen from his girlfriend’s e-mail account, including one that, according to an AP story, shows him “nearly nude.”
Yeah, I’m sure that’ll happen. They did say “pretty please.”
These same officials are also asking the Pirates to stop missing the playoffs.
Sizemore reportedly stood in front of a mirror in various stages of undress and took the photos with his cell phone.

Former Yankee great Tommy Henrich has died at age 96.
Does anyone know his claim to fame? (Answer below).
“I am saddened by the loss of Tommy Henrich, who was truly one of my personal favorites,” commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement released by MLB.
“Tommy was a wonderful Yankee known for his professionalism and for his many contributions in big games throughout his All-Star career, which spanned three different decades. ‘Old Reliable’ was beloved by his Yankee teammates and played on seven World Championship teams. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest sympathy to Tommy’s family and friends.”
Henrich hit the first walk-off home run in World Series history, beating Brooklyn’s Don Newcombe in Game 1 in 1949.
He also became the first player to fire his agent and hire Scott Boras.
