The Orioles announced a series of roster moves tonight that were anticipated for weeks.

The team declined the $20 option on outfielder Luis Robert Jr.’s contract, exercising the $2 million buyout and sending him into free agency.

Infielder José Barrero and pitcher Albert Suárez cleared waivers and elected free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.

Reliever Colin Selby, who missed the entire 2026 season due to right shoulder inflammation that required surgery, cleared outright waivers and was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and assigned to Norfolk.

Reliever Codi Heuer cleared waivers and accepted his outright assignment to Norfolk.

The 40-man roster is down to 33 players.

Robert appeared in three games after arriving from the Mets on an Aug. 31 waiver claim. He went 2-for-11 with a double and home run before injuring his left hamstring.

The team remains in the market for an outfielder, preferably a right-handed hitter who can play center, but $20 million wasn’t feasible for Robert.

Barrero appeared in two games with the Orioles in the final week of the season and was 1-for-6 with three strikeouts. He hit 23 home runs in 124 games with Norfolk but also posted a .202 average and .705 OPS. He struck out 140 times.

Suárez was non-tendered last offseason, signed a minor league deal with the Orioles and appeared in 28 games while posting a 3.86 ERA. He was designated for assignment five times and left the organization again today.

Never count him out.

Heuer was a non-tender candidate projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to receive $1.1 million in arbitration. The Orioles purchased his contract from the Brewers on Aug. 3, but he didn’t pitch for them.

More activity is coming Monday with players on the 60-day injured list added to the 40-man roster and teams required to make decisions on exercising options. It’s also the deadline to make qualifying offers to eligible players.
