BOSTON – Rather than condense 18 innings into one game today, the Orioles will spread them out over two.
Thank goodness for the expanded roster.
The Orioles will play a doubleheader against the Blue Jays at Camden Yards after going 6-3 on their road trip, the finale ending in their third one-run loss this month and their ninth of the season.

The Orioles were held to one run for the first time since an Aug. 29 loss to the White Sox. It was their lowest output on the road since a 5-1 loss in Texas on Aug. 20.
Steve Johnson will start Game 1 unless manager Buck Showalter changed his mind overnight. He’s been outstanding in the bullpen, but he’s earned another opportunity in the rotation.
The Blue Jays are starting two left-handers in this series – Ricky Romero in Game 2 and Aaron Laffey on Tuesday. The Orioles used to have issues with southpaws, but they’re 25-15 this season, their first winning record since 1997 (33-19).
They also used to get pummeled on the road and by division opponents, but that’s not happening, either.
OK, I’ve got an 8:45 a.m. Southwest flight to catch. I’m going straight from the airport to Camden Yards and will post the lineup later.
Manager Buck Showalter will rest catcher Matt Wieters in one of the games. Wieters 1-for-6 with a home run against Game 1 starter Henderson Alvarez and 5-for-24 with nine strikeouts against Romero.
Maybe Game 2 would be the right time to sit.
