Baseball’s Winter Meetings start Monday, and the Orioles released their spring training schedule yesterday. Grapefruit League play for the O’s will begin Feb. 23 when they face the Twins.
Although the Orioles have not yet announced who will be their new third base coach after DeMarlo Hale took the bench coach position in Toronto, they did acquire infielder Danny Valencia from the Red Sox.

This offseason, the Orioles are looking for a middle-of-the-lineup hitter. Dan Duquette highlighted the skills and talents of prospects Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy, saying that they are “on the horizon” of pitching in the major leagues.
Mark Reynolds has yet to reach an agreement with the Orioles, and he is set to become a free agent today.
On Jan. 12, Hall of Famer Jim Palmer will receive the “Player Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation at the 10th annual “In The Spirit of the Game” Sports and Entertainment Spectacular.
Looking to join Palmer in the Hall of Fame are the nine former Orioles on the 2013 Baseball Writers’ Association of America Hall of Fame ballot.
