NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dan Duquette’s Sunday night briefing with Baltimore reporters did not produce any big news, but it could and maybe will get much busier for the Orioles as the Winter Meetings officially start here today.

Yes, the club is still looking for a hitter and it seems they are more likely to get one via a trade than through a free agent signing. Other clubs seem certain to inquire about the Orioles’ young pitchers. They remain interested in re-signing Nate McLouth and Joe Saunders. The Orioles are not expected to be players for the top free agents, Josh Hamilton and Zack Grienke. The club is showing some interest in making a selection in Thursday’s Rule 5 draft.
Duquette said last night he expects to have trade talks here with several clubs.
“We are going to meet with all the teams we think we are legit trade partners with and my estimate is that will be five or six,” he said.
