masn-baseballs-orioles.jpgSARASOTA, Fla. – Outfielder Nolan Reimold didn’t have any restrictions during today’s workout. He participated in drills and took batting practice on the Camden Yards field.

Reimold swung against camp instructor Scott McGregor on Tuesday, and he joined a batting practice group today that included Manny Machado, Ryan Flaherty and Lew Ford.

“It was good. Just progressing into it,” Reimold said later while standing at his locker.

“It was good. Just progressing into it,” Reimold said later while standing at his locker.

“I felt pretty good yesterday. Still trying to get stronger every day. Still working out, get all the strength back in my arm. But the swing felt pretty good. It’s not like I can’t hit the ball. I’m sure it’s a progression and I’ll keep getting stronger and better every day.

“I was swinging in the cage a lot before I got out there on the field. The swing felt fine. The mechanics and the timing and all that were pretty good, actually. But obviously it’s a different story when you start facing pitchers. I’m sure that will be different. But all things considered, I think I’m pretty far along and feel pretty good.”

The term “full go” was music to Reimold’s ears, considering his lengthy rehab following surgery to remove a herniated disc in his neck and fuse two vertebrae.

“I’ve had a long road back and it’s good to be back and good to not have any limitations,” Reimold said. “I just want to be out there and be part of the team and do everything they do to get ready for the year.”

Manager Buck Showalter moved from field to field today and caught part of Reimold’s BP session.

“It was good,” he said. “They get a little frustrated because we’re always putting them on the field where the wind is blowing in, on three and four. We’re trying to save some baseballs.

“I’m anxious to hear what Richie (Bancells) says he said to him, and Brady (Anderson). I don’t want to be walking up to him every two minutes and going, ‘How are you feeling with that? How’s that feeling?’ They don’t want to hear that. I talked to him around the cage some. He’s upbeat. Real excited to be back on the field. When you think about everything he’s been through.”

Note: First baseman Travis Ishikawa has reported to camp. We’re only waiting on infielder Yamaico Navarro.
