ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Infielder Wilson Betemit underwent an exploratory arthroscopic procedure on his right knee yesterday in Baltimore, and the Orioles were encouraged by the reports.
Team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens “cleaned up a few things,” said manager Buck Showalter, and didn’t find any further damage to the knee.

Team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens “cleaned up a few things,” said manager Buck Showalter, and didn’t find any further damage to the knee.
Betemit suffered a Grade 2/3 tear of the PCL while running to second base during an exhibition game at Ed Smith Stadium.
The procedure won’t extend the timetable for Betemit’s return. Showalter said he was told seven or eight weeks needed to pass from the time of the injury.
Steve Johnson, on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right lat, did some long-tossing yesterday without any discomfort and has started his progression.
Dylan Bundy went on Double-A Bowie’s seven-day disabled list with tightness in his right forearm/elbow, but Showalter checked the medical report and remains encouraged. He said Bundy threw and didn’t experience any discomfort in the elbow.
Chris Tillman will be activated from the disabled list on Saturday, and the Orioles must make a corresponding roster move. Showalter said he’s got “three ways” that he can go with it, but he’s clearly leaning in one direction.
He’s just not telling us.
“Every option is on the table,” he said.
More to come.
