Batting fourth as the DH, Jones went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the 6-1 win over the Dodgers. Through 17 games, he is batting .352 with seven doubles, two homers, 14 RBIs and a .905 OPS.

When an everyday player gets moved to DH for a game it can be a unique adjustment dealing with some down time and it was for Jones last night.

“I’m bored. I don’t know what to do,” Jones said. “I understand it is to get my legs a little rest but I’m bothering him (Buck Showalter) and all the coaches. But hey, we have players and depth on this team to where myself, CD (Chris Davis),(Matt) Wieters, anyone can have a day off because we have the depth.”

Jones is now batting .421 with runners in scoring position at 8-for-19 with 10 RBIs.

Meanwhile, O’s designated hitters are now 4-for-11 with four RBIs in the last three games after going 3-for-47 to begin the year.

Jones did his part in that role last night, now he’d just like to not have to do that again for awhile.

How about Wei-Yin Chen’s comments through his interpreter after last night’s game? He was rather hard on himself I thought after giving up just three hits and one run over six innings.

“My true feelings, I really think all the guys behind me helped me to get a win tonight,” Chen said through his interpreter. “I was lucky tonight. My stuff was terrible today, not really good. I was lucky to get a win tonight. You can tell, my velocity on my fastball is not there yet and I had too many walks.”

Chen had been winless over his last 10 regular season starts, going 0-6 with a 4.37 ERA. Also, last night, by winning his 13th career game, Chen tied Hong-Chih Kuo for the second most victories by a Taiwanese-born pitcher in major league history. Chien-Ming Wang leads the way with 61.

Maybe there was a language barrier with the questions last night or Chen just won’t brag on himself but if he gives up three hits and one run most nights, he is going to have a pretty good season.
