The Orioles will try to avoid their first four-game losing streak of the season today when they host the Tampa Bay Rays.
Nolan Reimold’s move to the disabled list is backdated to last Sunday. His hamstring has been bothering him since spring training, to varying degrees, and he may not be ready when he’s eligible to be activated.

Nolan Reimold’s move to the disabled list is backdated to last Sunday. His hamstring has been bothering him since spring training, to varying degrees, and he may not be ready when he’s eligible to be activated.
The cold weather has been a challenge for Reimold, who’s batting .188 with four homers and nine RBIs in 31 games.
Reimold will remain with the club through the homestand. He is expected to fly down to Sarasota once the Orioles head back on the road.
The Orioles chose Jake Arrieta as their extra bullpen arm because he was scheduled to start tonight for Triple-A Norfolk, he’s rested and he can provide length. He threw back-to-back bullpen sessions, and his right shoulder is fine.
For now, Arrieta is here only in a relief role. There are no plans to give him a start, but things change around here.
Jake Pettit will start for the Tides tonight in Durham.
The Orioles haven’t named a starter for Monday’s series opener against the Yankees, but it’s Freddy Garcia’s turn and he’s the current favorite to take the ball. Again, things change around here.
Taylor Teagarden had the splint removed from his left thumb, but he’s not close to going out on an injury-rehab assignment.
When Jair Jurrjens made his major league debut for the Tigers on Aug. 15, 2007 at Cleveland, the opposing starter was Fausto Carmona – now known as Roberto Hernandez, who starts today for the Rays.
Small baseball world.
Jurrjens allowed four earned runs in seven innings. Carmona allowed one run in eight innings.
Adam Jones is 5-for-10 with two doubles lifetime against Hernandez. Chris Davis is 5-for-15 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs. Matt Wieters is 4-for-12 with a double, home run and six strikeouts.
Alexi Casilla is 7-for-21 with three doubles, but he’s on the bench again today.
Hernandez is 1-4 with a 7.81 ERA in four career starts at Camden Yards.
Rays first baseman James Loney is 6-for-19 with three doubles against Jurrjens.
J.J. Hardy has hit in 12 straight games, going 16-for-45 (.356) with five homers, nine RBIs and eight runs scored.
Norfolk reliever Daniel McCutchen, who was suspended 50 games without pay for violating baseball’s Drug Prevention and Treatment Program after he tested positive for performance-enhancing substances Methenolone and a metabolite of Trenbolone, can be reinstated on May 29.
Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson turns 76 today. Good luck finding a nicer man in this world. Not going to happen, but feel free to try.
