Chen made 25 throws in the outfield at Tropicana Field, with pitching coach Rick Adair, head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and assistant athletic trainer Brian Ebel paying close attention.

Chen made 25 throws at 90 feet before increasing the distance. He finished up with 10 throws at 60 feet and said he felt good.

Chen made 25 throws at 90 feet before increasing the distance. He finished up with 10 throws at 60 feet and said he felt good.

“It’s a really good process right now and everything is on schedule,” Chen said through interpreter Tim Lin. “There’s no pain, no hurt feeling, so physically I’m good right now.”

Chen isn’t sure about the rest of his schedule or when he will be cleared to throw off a mound.

“To be honest with you, this is the first time I’ve thrown 120, so I feel pretty tired right now,” he said. “Next day, I’ll get my strength back and keep working at it.

“There’s no timetable for me yet, but I believe I’m coming back really soon.”

Chen has been rehabbing in Sarasota and missing his teammates.

“It’s really boring at home and I want to come back as soon as possible and join my team,” he said. “I’m really excited today to join my team, to see my teammates and all the staff over here. I’m happy to be here today.”

Down on the farm, the Orioles will assign first baseman/outfielder Seth Loman to Double-A Bowie.

Loman, acquired from the White Sox last night for cash considerations, will report to Bowie on Monday.

Loman, 27, was batting .223/.390/.471 with six doubles, eight homers and 19 RBIs in 39 games at Triple-A Charlotte. He’s a career .282/.382/.509 hitter with 123 homers and 424 RBIs in 668 minor league games over eight seasons.

Loman’s father, Doug, was an outfielder with the Brewers in 1984-85.
