The 22nd overall pick in the draft, it is believed Harvey’s deal is around the slot value for that pick of $1,947,600. Harvey is expected to take a physical early next week to make the deal official.

Harvey is a right-hander from Bandys High School in Catawba, N.C., and was rated by Baseball America as the 33rd-best overall player and the seventh-best right-hander after a senior year where he went 8-0 with an ERA of 0.38. Over 54 2/3 innings, he gave up just two extra-base hits, both doubles, and fanned 116.

His father, Bryan Harvey, saved 177 games in a nine-year big league career with the Angels and Marlins from 1987-95.

Hunter Harvey’s fastball usually sits in the 90-94 mph range, touching 95 mph, and he also features a sharp breaking curveball and changeup that needs more developing.

It has been a good day for the Orioles, who earlier came to terms with their second pick, high school outfielder Josh Hart. Hart agreed to a bonus of $1.45 million, just under the slot value for the 37th overall pick of $1,508,600.

The Orioles do not announce draft pick signings until the players pass physicals, so there has been no announcement from the club on Harvey and Hart, but those deals are done.

The Orioles did today officially announce the signing of their second-round pick, high school catcher Chance Sisco of California. He will report to the Gulf Coast League.

According to Baseball America’s Jim Callis, Sisco agreed to a signing bonus of $785,000 which is under the slot value of $913,300 for the draft’s 61st overall selection.

Now with agreements with Harvey and Hart, the O’s only pick in the top 10 rounds that has not come to terms is the seventh-round pick, Youngstown State third baseman Drew Dosch, who is a seeking a deal over the slot value of $163,800 for the 219th selection. That negotiation could go down to the July 12 signing deadline, but Dosch cannot play right now anyway after undergoing surgery May 17 for a torn ACL. Dosch is expected to make a full recovery for next season.
