Gonzalez punched out Munesori Kawasaki in the third inning. Not literally, though there must be a slight temptation.

Kawasaki was batting .229 before today, but .321 vs. the Orioles. Eight of his 17 RBIs came against them.

Nate McLouth led off the first inning with a single. Chris Davis doubled in the second. Ryan Flaherty singled in the third. But the Orioles haven’t scored.

Flaherty has collected six hits in his last four games and nine in the last nine. He was doubled off first base today on Taylor Teagarden’s liner to Toronto starter Chien-Ming Wang.

Adam Jones is 0-for-2 today. He has a 17-game hitting streak against Toronto dating back to Aug. 24, 2012, the third-longest by an Oriole against the Blue Jays.

Al Bumbry hit in 20 straight from June 26, 1977-June 30, 1980, and Miguel Tejada had a hit in 18 straight games from Aug. 30, 2005-June 14, 2006.

Manager Buck Showalter brought the lineup card to home plate today, which is unusual past the first game of a series. Perhaps he had a few more words for the umpiring crew. None, however, that got him ejected today.

Angel Hernandez is working third base today. He would be of more use working a concession stand.

Update: Travis Ishikawa collected his first RBI as an Oriole in the fifth inning, scoring Chris Davis to tie the game 1-1. However, Maicer Izturis homered in the bottom half on the first pitch thrown by Gonzalez.

Izturis was looking for a fastball and he got one.

Davis is 2-for-2 today and is batting .365 in the last 41 games, with 14 doubles, 18 homers, 38 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

Kawasaki walked in the fifth after hitting another long foul ball, his second of the game. Suddenly, this guy’s got pop.
