Making his second O’s start and first at home, right-hander Scott Feldman allowed six runs in the sixth inning to a Rangers team he pitched for from 2005 to 2012.

Feldman allowed nine hits and seven runs (all earned) over 5 1/3 innings after giving up two runs in six innings in his first Orioles start. The runs and hits allowed were a season high for him. On May 6 for the Cubs, he had pitched seven shutout innings on two hits against Texas.

The Orioles missed a slew of scoring chances early in this game, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position over the first three innings and leaving five on base.

Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with an RBI and this was his major league leading 13th game with three hits or more. Matt Wieters hit a two-run homer in the seventh after he had fanned his first three times up.

According to Elias Sports, Machado’s 122 hits are tied for the most in MLB history before the All-Star break by a player under 21 at the start of a season.

In losing for the fifth time in the last seven games the Orioles fall to 49-41. They had a four-game home win streak snapped.

The O’s host Texas in Game 2 of this series Tuesday night with Zach Britton (2-2, 4.03 ERA) facing lefty Martin Perez (2-1, 1.85 ERA) at 7:05 p.m.
