Davis’ two-run homer in the second started the O’s scoring and was his major league-leading 35th homer. With 88 RBIs, Davis breaks a tie with Boog Powell for most RBIs by an Oriole before the All-Star break. Powell had 86 in 1969.

After hitting the homer, seven of Davis’ eight hits since June 29 were longballs and the other was a double. His last single was June 25th until he singled in the sixth inning. Yes, the singles drought is over.

Adam Jones went 3-for-4 and hit a three-run homer in the third. It was his 16th. He added a double and single. His homer put the O’s ahead 5-3 and they never trailed after that. J.J. Hardy added a three-run shot in the sixth. It was his 16th homer.

The O’s lead the majors in home runs with 128 on the year.

Winning pitcher Chris Tillman went six innings, allowing eight hits and three runs to improve to 11-3 with an ERA of 3.95. Tillman gave up a two-run homer to J.P. Arencibia in the second and a solo shot to Edwin Encarnacion in the third.

Over the last three games, the O’s starters – Wei-Yin Chen, Miguel Gonzalez and Tillman – have pitched to an ERA of 2.29.

The Orioles ended a four-game losing streak against Toronto and are now 5-6 on the year against a Jays team that has lost 12 of its past 18 games.

The Orioles improved to 19-7 in their last 26 home games and to 52-42 on the season.
