Update: CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman is reporting that the Orioles are close to trading Chris Dickerson to the Philadelphia Phillies.
And MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki responded to that report by relaying that Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. squashed that rumor. Amaro said the Dickerson talk is false and the team isn’t close to acquiring anyone.
What to believe?
The Orioles designated Dickerson for assignment last Friday.
On Tuesday, Dan Duquette said there were a few teams interested in Dickerson and sounded confident a trade would happen by this weekend.
Update II: So it appears the Orioles aren’t about to send Dickerson to the Phillies.
Heyman retracted his report right away after hearing Amaro’s comments, tweeting, “i retract the dickerson tweet based on amaro comment. my bad. i must have miss-read my texts.”
