Gonzalez surrendered a game-tying, three-run homer to Jedd Gyorko in the bottom of the sixth inning, erasing the Orioles 3-0 lead at Petco Park.

Gonzalez has now allowed 13 runs in the sixth this season, most of any inning. He’s given up 11 in the fourth and fifth.

Gyorko hammered a fastball to center field to tie the game and leave Gonzalez with a no-decision. But Gonzalez did post a quality start after two disastrous…Miguel Gonzalez was cruising today. Then, he hit one of those potholes.

Gonzalez is charged with three runs and six hits in six innings, with two walks and eight strikeouts. He came out after throwing 99 pitches, 64 for strikes.

You have to feel better about him after today’s start, but it’s unfortunate that the Orioles haven’t put away a team that’s committed three errors and is only entertaining when seagulls are eating pizza crust in the outfield.

The Orioles are 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and have stranded four runners through seven innings.

Francisco Rodriguez retired the Padres in order with two strikeouts in the seventh. He needed a clean inning.

Nicky Delmonico, the player traded for Rodriguez, is batting .243 in 10 games with Single-A Brevard County – the same average he had in 61 games with Single-A Frederick. He’s 9-for-37 with a double, triple and four RBIs.

Update: Chris Davis greeted left-hander Colt Hynes with a long three-run homer in the eighth to give the Orioles a 6-3 lead.

Estimated distance: 453 feet.

Giddy-up.

Hynes threw one pitch after replacing starter Eric Stults, a 79 mph slider, and Davis crushed it. Matt Wieters followed with a double and Hynes was removed from the game.

Davis has 41 homers and 106 RBIs this season.

Brian Roberts lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to increase the lead to 7-3.

Update II: Matt Wieters delivered a run in the ninth with a grounder, J.J. Hardy singled in two more runs and the Orioles defeated the Padres 10-3 to sweep the two-game series.

Is it considered a sweep if the series is only two games?

Hardy drove in three runs today, giving him 63 RBIs to go with 19 home runs.

Adam Jones had seven hits in the series and is 11-for-20 in five games at Petco Park.

Darren O’Day got the last four outs. He also had his first major league at-bat, striking out to end the top of the ninth.

Rodriguez is credited with his first win as an Oriole.

The Orioles are now 52-37 when they hit a home run. They’re 12-6 against California teams this season.
