Chris Tillman tries for the third time tonight to become the Orioles’ first 15-game winner since Erik Bedard in 2006. A win this evening would make Tillman the 29th O’s pitcher to record a 15-win year.
Tillman pitched well in two starts on the recent road trip – giving up just three runs over 14 innings – but didn’t get a win as the O’s went 1-1 in those games. He left with a lead in both.

Still, the Orioles are a rather impressive 13-2 in Tillman’s last 15 starts and 18-6 in his 24 starts on the season.
Tillman is 14-3 with an ERA of 3.70, but two of the three losses came against tonight’s opponent. He is 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA this season vs. the Rays and is 2-5 with a 4.77 ERA in 10 career starts against Tampa.
For Tampa, 2012 Cy Young winner David Price starts tonight. He has faced the O’s twice this year and the Orioles won both times. He is 0-0 with a 5.25 ERA against the O’s.
The Orioles are batting .319 (15-for-47) with an OPS of .943 against Price this season with seven doubles and two homers.
But since Price returned from the DL July 2, the lefty is 5-1 with an ERA of 1.77 and a .197 batting average against.
In 71 1/3 innings in that stretch, Price has fanned 51 and walked three. You read that right, just three walks over 71 1/3 innings and 258 batters faced.
In 18 starts on the season, Price is 6-5 with a 3.28 ERA.
The Orioles went 4-2 in their first two series this season against the Rays, but just 1-5 in the last two for a 5-7 record.
What is your prediction for the series?
