“You can’t change your approach,” Jones said. “Once you change, other things will start failing. If you are an aggressive hitter, you have to go up there and be aggressive. We are an aggressive team and sometimes (David) Price used that against us, getting us out the zone a little bit.

“Any loss is frustrating, but helluva game both sides. They shut us down with men in scoring position. We left 14 on base (actually 15), that means we had 14 opportunities. Price is the pitcher he is because he knows how to get out of jams like that.

“That is why he is one of the best pitchers in the game. Always been up there in strikeouts and we have hitters that are aggressive. Hey bring it tomorrow and keep swinging the bats.”

The Orioles’ 15 hits is their most in a game when scoring three or fewer runs since Aug. 7, 2007 against Seattle in a 10-3 loss.

“We put ourselves in good opportunities. I know you want to look at it in a negative way, but I look at it in a positive. We created the opportunities. Just imagine if we had none and left nobody on base. Then we’d really be getting cussed out,” Jones said.

Matt Wieters talked about the frustrating night of missed chances.

“They are all frustrating,” he said. “Every loss is frustrating. We got a good pitcher out of the game in the fifth inning and put a lot of good at-bats against Price, but couldn’t break it open.

“We didn’t get the hits, but we put some good at-bats together. Pearce hit two seeds at people and we hit some balls hard, but that’s baseball.”

Chris Tillman gave up four runs in six innings to take the loss including Matt Joyce’s two-run homer in the fourth that snapped a 2-2 tie.

“They battled with their at-bats and took some pitcher’s pitches. We have to give some credit. They are all tough. We know what this is coming down to,” he said.
