The Orioles announced today that infielder Alex Liddi cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.
Liddi was designated for assignment on Friday to make room for outfielder Chris Dickerson on the 40-man roster.
The Orioles acquired Liddi and International Signing Bonus Slot No. 3 from the Mariners for International Signing Bonus Slot No. 2 on July 6. He went 1-for-17 in eight games with Seattle this year. Liddi played first base, third base and shortstop with the Tides.
Liddi hit 30 homers and drove in 104 runs with Triple-A Tacoma in 2011. He’s a career .208/.266/.370 hitter with six homers and 16 RBIs in 61 major league games over parts of three seasons with the Mariners.
