Feldman left the game after walking Brett Gardner with two outs in the top of the eighth. Tommy Hunter retired Alex Rodriguez on a liner to center field to keep the score tied.

In 12 outings with the Orioles, Feldman has turned in seven quality starts. He allowed one run over five innings in an Aug. 25 start against the Athletics.

Feldman has permitted three earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts, pitching to a 1.77 ERA. He’s worked at least seven innings in his last three appearances.

How are you feeling about that Cubs trade?

Jim Johnson is warming in the Orioles’ bullpen. Still no sign of Darren O’Day. This would be a DL situation without the expanded roster.

Manny Machado has singled twice tonight, giving him 51 multi-hit games.

Michael Morse went 0-for-3 before Chris Dickerson replaced him in right field. He’s 3-for-20 with the Orioles.

To be fair, his last out was a liner to short.

Update: Manager Buck Showalter sent Hunter back out for the top of the ninth inning, and Robinson Cano led off with the Yankees’ third home run tonight.

Cano is 6-for-16 with a double and two home runs lifetime against Hunter.

Curtis Granderson tripled with one out, making him 6-for-14 vs. Hunter, but Mark Reynolds struck out and Showalter brought in Troy Patton.

Lyle Overbay reached on an infield hit to score Granderson and increase the Yankees lead to 5-3.

Patton was pitching for the second time since Aug. 31.

Before tonight, left-handers were batting .304 vs. Hunter and right-handers were batting .121. Cano and Granderson both hit from the left side.

Update II: Nate McLouth doubled off Mariano Rivera with two outs in the ninth and scored on Brian Roberts’ single, but Manny Machado struck out on three pitches and the Yankees held on for a 5-4 win.

Again, the late-inning matchups didn’t favor the Orioles, and they fall into fourth place at 77-68.

The Orioles are 16-26 in one-run games and 51-20 when they outhit their opponent.
